Natalie Storm – Feel Up

October 18th, 2010

A little teaser to get you warmed up for what could be one of the biggest and baddest bashment mixtapes of the year, from dancehall queen Natalie Storm (above right). The mixtape, Songs 2 F**k and Fight 2, is being produced by NYC’s own Federation Sound, along with Prodigal Entertainment which can pretty much only mean it’s going to be a lot. Only 3 weeks to go…watch this space (and listen below)!

DJ Teenage Wolf (Udachi Remix)

September 24th, 2010

Dj Teenage Wolf has hooked us up with this seriously bassy Udachi remix of his track ‘Cuerno de Sonido’ from his latest release on Vicious Pop. It’s probably a lot like their Tex Mex parties – it starts off pretty great but a little tame, and then it turns into utter filth. If you want a dirty bassline, this is it.

Download the remix here and head to Turntable Lab to cop the real deal, which features the original, the Udachi remix and a remix by Rampage.

Free Brenmar Download

September 5th, 2010

The lovely Brooklyn-based producer William Salas,  better known under his moniker Brenmar, has knocked up quite some work these last couple of months. Next to writing songs for his band These Are Powers, he’s done a great mix called 24K this Summer, in which he perfectly blends in Dubbel Dutch with Kelis, amongst other fun edits and remixes. Not many people can stitch together R&B, Hip Hop, House and Bass this naturally. The mix also includes a fun track named ‘Knee Deep’ that he made with LA talents and Mixpak acquaintances Nguzunguzu. Next to all of this, Brenmar has been busy working on his first EP out through Discobelle in late October and will be a right treat; the release includes four original gems and a remix package taken care of by Ikonika, DJ Rashad and Optimum. Not bad at all, all I can do is suggest you don’t sleep on this release!

Brenmar has produced a track called ‘Back Beating’ that we’re allowed to give away to you for free, as an hors d’oeuvre for his EP release. In Brenmar’s own words, this track is a quirky one for the dance floor, and he’s right: we couldn’t stop our feet from moving even if we tried!

Natalie Storm Vs Redlight

September 1st, 2010

A couple of weeks back we posted on Bristol boy Redlight’s latest big offering for the dancefloor: the MDMA riddim. Now the riddim has made its way to JA, where ex-TNT crew member Natalie Storm has done what Ms. Dynamite did over in the UK: put a talented female vocal to that dirty bassline. It bang bangs.

Natalie Storm’s mixtape (from the mighty Federation Sound and Prodigal – Perfect Storm) will be hitting the net at the beginning of October. Hold tight.

Ludacris x Joe x Dj Orgasmic

June 9th, 2010

Cedric Caillol, better known as his Institubes alias Dj Orgasmic, has been at the forefront of the mashup spectrum since the early days of music brewing. This time around, Cedric has compiled Ludacris’s ‘How Low’ with the new Hessle Audio release ’Claptrap‘ by Joe. Below, Teki Latex shares his history with Cedric and the driving forces behind an ‘Orgasmic’ mashup. Also, be sure to stop by the new Institubes Blog for more exclusives!

One of the big things Sound Pellegrino co-founder Orgasmic used to be known for back in the good old days was sticking hip hop acapellas over electronic beats. I’m talking about an era when bootlegs barely existed, and when the concept of Lil’Jon rapping over every possible dutch house track was absolutely unconceivable… in 2002/2003 the only people that i knew of, who were doing it with taste and clever/up-to-date track choices were Feadz and Orgasmic, and they were absolutely killing parisian clubs with it. Those who have heard Orgaga’s mix cds (the ancestral “Orgasmic le toxicologue est secrètement amoureux de vous” and “the Rise and Rise of Orgasmic”) can testify: his blends are always on point.
