Parisian hotshot DJ Koyote has done an impressive mix to promote his upcoming appearance at Belguim’s own Freaks & Geeks party. There’s no tracklist, but Koyote explains.
I’m happy to play at the Freaks & Geeks party in Brussels Friday, 23rd and the promoters asked me if I could do a promo mix. So I undust my decks and grabbed a few UK garage/2 step and acid house records and record this one. Enjoy !

The Heatwave’s October Charts
October 14th, 2009Shouts to The Heatwave blog for picking Vybz Kartel’s “Yuh Love” for their October charts. If you are checking on Dancehall or Funky or the intersection of the two genres then add The Heatwave to your feedreader. There are not enough blogs that go as deep. And speaking of deepness check out the “Funky Bashment” podcast that The Heatwave just turned in for the XLR8R podcast series…and if you check that tracklist closely, you might just spot an exclusive early appearance of an upcoming Mixpak release.
Assassin’s “Hand Ina Di Air” grabbed the number one spot on The Heatwave Dancehall charts (see the video above). Big track!!!

Check this great article about Natalie Storm and Dylan Powe on the “Letter From Jamica” blog. Natalie recently voiced a big song, “Look Pon Me,” that features her incredible catchy flow on a Funky riddim straight outta the UK. This will be included on a brand new EP dropping on Mixpak next month. Is the riddim produced by UK Garage bigwig Sticky? Yes. Did Dexplicit kill it on the remix? Indeed. As a young label, we don’t have the PR muscle to break every record as hard as we’d like, but we’re keen to believe that quality releases will breakthrough…even if it takes some time. In that vein, we’re proud to relay that Fool’s Gold boss and DJ extraordinaire A-Trak has picked Dre Skull’s “I Want You (Dre Skull Remix)” as an honorable mention on his October Top 10 list. As summer hanging makes way for classes and meetings, the changing season calls for a soundtrack of syncopated digital beats and rock ‘n’ roll jams for setting a productive mood. Of course, fall wouldn’t be fall without shedding a small tear for the parties that had to end, romances that seem frivolous in fall and trees losing their leaves, which all feels most satisfyingly sad accompanied by simple melodic vocals and melancholy harmonies.
