Gremino – Another Take Me Away

April 27th, 2012

More treats for our pets today. Finnish lab tech Gremino hit us off with some unreleased dark garage for freeload. He brings his trademark raw dog electronic flavor, Ginsu bass stabs, and monster pauses. It especially jumps off at around 2:00 when eerie, charged winds start filling the sails towards moodier waters. Keep your eye on him, he’s got a lot of ill work on deck. Also grab his newest EP on LA’s Fade To Mind, Let’s Jack. And he sells beats you can cop by hollering at him on his Soundcloud, where you can preview them too. (GIF via rizzlemyworld.)

Space Ladies – Medusa (Sentel Remix)

April 26th, 2012

This is the kind of tune you’d expect to hear at a warehouse rave, all dark and stiflingly hot. Disembodied vocals wail over pumping elevator cable bass while an elephant 4×4 kick shakes loose rust and random parts from the ceiling. Sentel is a Polish duo building off the positive reception of their first release, Chapel 20. London’s Senseless Records blessed us with this one as an exclusive free download, but the EP it appears on drops next week. Stream the rest on their Soundcloud or cop their current record by Venezuela’s Pocz and DJ Yirvin, the Explotala EP.

R2Bees ft Sarkodie & Nana Boroo – Agyeeei (Dubbel Dutch Re-riddim)

April 26th, 2012

Earlier this year, the Akwaaba label kindly gave away the acapella for huge Ghanaian hit ‘Agyeeei’ by R2Bees as part of a remix contest. Mixpak’s Dubbel Dutch took the vocal and flipped it over a deep dancehall bassline and a heap of jumping synth & percussion. It’s up for free download:

Mixpak FM: Famous Eno

April 24th, 2012

Mixpak FM 033 comes from London’s Famous Eno. Once part of Warrior One – who released their Lord of Bashy EP on Mixpak in 2010 – he has now gone solo and will be releasing his first solo single, ‘All Good FM’, with us this summer.

His Mixpak FM embodies both his influences and the concept behind ‘All Good FM’ – slipping in between new undergound UK sounds, classic ragga, grime, hip hop and soul, surfing genres like a radio dial and intersecting the music with farflung soundbites. The mix explains itself…and watch for the preview of his Mixpak track!

You can subscribe to Mixpak FM via iTunes, subscribe with an RSS reader from the Mixpak FM site or download this mix directly.

Yung Image – Where We From (Moonlight Riddim)

April 18th, 2012

Turns out there’s plenty more more gems from Grenadian artists in Brooklyn. Here we’ve got some vocals by Yung Image over Riga‘s Moonlight Riddim. On the free association tip, Yung spin a tale of poor upbringings and goon life with an on-point delivery.
