Rolling In The Heat

The Heatwave have delivered yet another impressive blend, and this time it’s a refix of a refix – taking Jamie XX’s dancehall-inspired remix of Adele’s ‘Rolling In The Deep’. As if Adele over a clapping dancehall beat reminiscent of the Diwali riddim wasn’t already enough, The Heatwave supply a huge roster of vocals on their version, as always – Mr Lexx, Cecile, Timberlee (and even a snippet of ‘Iko Iko’). This one is sure to heat up the dance.

The mp3 of the tune will be given away for free on their site this week.

Also, be sure to check out their latest podcast from their weekly Rinse FM radio show, where they played ‘Go Go Wine’ for the first time. ‘That’s what you call a bullet’.

Andy Petr’s debut release, ‘Rapper Turned Singer,’ is out now! On the EP the prolific Milwaukee-based 19-year old producer affirms his knowledge of electronic music, interlacing bits and pieces of IDM, Chicago house, Acid house, Juke, hip hop and more. Far from the core London, Paris, and New York electronic scenes, Petr cranks out track after track, exploring intricacies of production and ultimately finding a sound all his own. Support this release on iTunes and at all fine digital music stores!

We’re excited to announce Vybz Kartel’s ‘Go Go Wine’ debuted at #1 on the Global Reggae Top Singles chart in the first week of it’s release. Thanks to everyone who has been supporting this and, if you haven’t already, grab it from iTunes!

Though UK Funky producer Lil Silva has been doing big things for years now, he’s still only put out a couple of releases, on none other than the Night Slugs imprint. Now he’s releasing this EP, The Patience on Good Years, which drops today. The four-track EP is pretty dark, and features the sub-bass filled ‘Cheese & Bun’, the synthy ‘Patience’, the piano-riff club banger ‘Wait Is Over’ and the track below, ‘On Your Own’, featuring vocals from Sampha. It’s emotional. Go get the EP on vinyl or digital here.

Bay Area Banger

This is a cut from Young L’s sophomore mixtape DOMO-KUN.  Young L hit the scene a few years ago with The Pack, a post-hyphy rap crew who got some serious attention for their anthemic, hip-hop skateboard track “Vans.”  The group is still around today but less active, leaving Young L some time to explore the parameters of the polarizing and momentously weird “BASED” rap style. On “Loud Pockets,” Young L mixes huge 8-bit bass sound with a slacker flow, making a track simultaneously heavy and stark, laid-back but grindingly aggressive. Definitely bashy.  Throw it on in your “cinnamon limousine,” and shake your dreads out of that fitted!
