UK-Colombian producer Florentino releases his second EP for Mixpak, Ilimitado, with 5 dancefloor-ready tracks uniting UK Club music with latin pop and reggaeton.
Following previous vocal collaborations with Ms Nina and Bad Gyal on his EP FragmentosIlimitado shows Florentino broadening his scope to link with exciting latinx underground voices from across the world. Brazilian baile funk star MC Bin Laden meets Brazilian born/Barcelona based MC Buzzz on grime-meets-baile anthem “Na Fuga”. Rising reggaetonera Albany croons on “Dime Que Tu Quieres,” while “Catastrofe” brings a cumbia shuffle with longing vocals from Honduras-born, Montreal based Isabella Lovestory. The EP’s sole instrumental offering, “Latigo” is a characteristically Florentino flavored club banger that unites reggaeton with a 2019 UK Funky flex.
In the last year Florentino has performed internationally, and collaborated with a broad range of vocalists through his exploration of the Latin diaspora. Those experiences and travels have created a deep, melodic and ebullient collection of songs. There’s explorations of toxic love, heartbreak and melodrama on Ilimitado, all while reminding you you can dance your troubles away. It’s a dance floor telenovela that solidifies Florentino’s reputation as el más romántico de los románticos.

WILDLIFE! BALLADS
A multi-channel sound and light installation
at NITEMIND-SYNC
26 Fulton Street, Manhattan
Presented by @Wallplaynetwork
Open July 11-21

For the first in a series of collaborations at newly launched exhibition space Nitemind-Sync, Brooklyn-based artist collective Nitemind invite Swiss producer and sound artist WILDLIFE!.
For this show, the two collaborators translate WILDLIFE!’s newest record Ballads (Mixpak Records; July 12), into an immersive, multi-channel sound and light installation at an abandoned Financial District department store.
As with previous collaborations, Nitemind and WILDLIFE! borrow and deconstruct archetypical elements from traditional club settings and reassemble them in a multi-room gallery environment. By expanding the record’s original compositions both temporally and spatially, the artists add a physical dimension to the sonic building blocks, extending an invitation to experience the compositions as quasi-sculptural sound and light objects in a physical space.

Today we’re releasing the video for Afro B, Vybz Kartel, and Dre Skull’s hit collab “Shape Nice”.

Bringing together the sounds & vocal styles of London, New York, Jamaica and Africa, the song is an encapsulation of the ever-present dialogue between afro-pop & dancehall.

Afro B is one of London’s rising stars, with his hit song “Drogba (Joanna)” now playlisted on NY radio. Meanwhile, Jamaican artist Vybz Kartel continues to dominate dancehall, with more hit songs than you can count. They’re united by NY producer Dre Skull, known for his work with Popcaan, Wizkid, Davido, and more.

“Shape Nice” has quickly risen to hit status, been playlisted on Rinse FM and Capital Xtra, and spawned the viral #shapenicechallenge on social media.

Palmistry’s second album Afterlife is out today.

Palmistry is the project of London-based vocalist, songwriter and producer Benjy Keating, known for his stripped back pop and forward thinking production. His second album Afterlife was written in a heatsick haze in Athens, Greece and the Mixpak Studios in Brooklyn, NY, and further pushes his knack for intimate and heartfelt earworms that grapple with disconnection, devotion and the emotions in between.

While his debut album PAGAN was a self-contained effort, with Afterlife Palmistry cracks the door open to some accomplished friends who bring their own colors & textures to his singular world. There’s woozy anthem “Water” produced by SOPHIE, “Tru Luv” – a duet with Miami- based vocalist Toian produced by Benny Blanco, as well as assistance from Ghanaian artist Klu, Cashmere Cat and Mechatok.

Afterlife is pop at the edges, with poetry at the core, evoking bodily sensations, lucid dream states and fractured memories – the slice of an orange, the patter of rain on a car roof and the crushing weight of city life.
