J-WOW Hardass Mix

August 4th, 2011

Mixpak fam J-WOW has just released this banging promo mix for the latest in Enchufada’s Hard Ass Sessions series. Each in the series takes on a different genre, and this one is all about Kuduro (which itself literally translates as ‘hard ass’ from Portuguese). We already featured the 3ball cut from Cardopusher, but this mix runs through tracks from Brenmar, Melé, Poirier, Schlachthofbronx, Dubbel Dutch and more…

Melé Mix For Sinden

April 26th, 2010

Melé’s Bombay EP for Mixpak is just about ready to drop and the anticipation is getting white hot with strong early support from Oliver Twizt, Buraka Som Sistema, Catchdubs and more. Sinden recently tapped Melé for a guest mix on his Kiss FM show and the resulting mix does not disappoint. Download it here or stream it below.

buraka live
Mixpak comrades Buraka Som Sistema are continuing their reign of destruction with the “Blood Diamond” mixtape. Featuring twenty two exclusive tracks consisting of exclusive Buraka re-edits, cameos from Afrikan Boy, Aloe Blacc, Blaya, Toy Selectah, and a mashup of Secousse and Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child of Mine”, this is a stellar compilation of sounds spanning from kudoro to hip hop to cumbia to dubstep to ghettotech and back into pop music again, all mixed seamlessly by DJ Lil John (aka J-Wow).

And as if my eyeballs weren’t bugging out of my head enough like some awestruck cartoon character already, it’s absolutely free. After you finish throwing yr hands in the air and cheering, you can grab the “Blood Diamond Mixtape” for the perfect soundtrack to everything you’re going to be doing this summer.

Dre Skull – Gone Too Far Featuring Sizzla

February 24th, 2009

Gone Too Far

Our first release has Dre Skull teaming up with Jamaican dancehall legend Sizzla on some classic 120bpm dancehall. Dre Skull’s timpani and strings-driven “Skull Riddim” anchors Sizzla’s dynamic call to stop the violence and the result is an instant anthem in the long tradition of positive, anti-violence dancehall tracks. The vinyl features some massive, bassbin rumbling remixes by Buraka Som Sistema, Lee Mortimer & Dre Skull that are not to be missed. The digital release has additional remixes by Rico Tubbs and Goon making sure every base (bass?) is covered. “Gone Too Far” has garnered early support from Annie Mac and Sinden and the underlying “Skull Riddim” is getting some alternate voicings, so be on the look out for some exclusive dubplates popping up. The vinyl and digital are set to drop on March 17th.
