Maxpak: Max Glazer Presents…Part One

November 24th, 2011

Today sees a brand new collaboration between Mixpak and NYC dancehall stalwart, Max Glazer, of Federation Sound. Max will be contributing regularly to the Mixpak blog and this month his offering is an introduction to what’s rocking their soundsystems at Federation right now. Take it away Max:

Collie Buddz – Too Watchy [Upsetta Records]

“Too watchy” is basically just a perfect one drop song. Collie Buddz has been consistently making great music since he debuted with “Come Around”. Sometimes people have been taking notice, sometimes they haven’t but he has kept the quality control that is mostly missing in dancehall. No matter how many I times I play this I am still not sick of hearing it… Pull up again!

Flatlands Remix Project

October 13th, 2011

After the huge release of the Flatlands Riddim earlier this year, NYC’s Federation Sound have given the whole project the remix treatment. Every corner is covered: Moombahton from Emynd, UK Funky from The Heatwave and uptempo dancefloor offerings from newbie Noah Issa, Nick Catchdubs and Blackhart, and personal favourite from Lighters Up (Kenny Meez & Jah T Jr) who flip the original into a full-on, bassed-up bashment track. They’re giving up Sickhead’s remix of Ward 21′s ‘Go Easy’ before the full release drops on October 18th:

Summer Murda

Still recovering from Labour Day celebrations? Or Carnival? This is the mixtape. It’s jam-packed with dubplates, specials (even one from Johnny Osbourne), huge and underrated tunes alike, all mixed together by Max Glazer of Federation Sound and presented by streetwear brand 10 Deep.

Flatlands Riddim Plus

April 13th, 2011

The brilliant Flatlands riddim from NYC’s Federation Sound finally drops on iTunes, after a horrible wait and some even more horrible times trying to google ‘Doggy‘ and not quite getting what you were searching for. The riddim has been bumped up to an incredible 12 cuts, adding to the original voicings from Mr Lexx, Natalie Storm & Mr Vegas, Bling Dawg, Flippa Mafia and Terro 3000 (already a great line-up) to include Ward 21, Prince Zimboo, Bitta Blood, Red Foxx and more. I can’t stress how wicked this riddim is. Grab it from iTunes now.

Rihanna & Vybz – What’s My Name Remix

December 20th, 2010

How can some of the year’s biggest tunes just keep slipping in right at the end? Federation’s Max Glazer has put his magic touch to Rihanna’s ‘What’s My Name’, adding a knocking dancehall beat and some sweet patois Vybz to Ri-Ri’s sweet na-nahing…

Your name honeybunch, heartbeat, love bunny, sweety pie, darling, putus, mi sugar dumpling…

Drake, move out the way!

[There is another Vybz/Rihanna remix on the same song that rehashes Vybz' vocal from 'Beat Up Di', but it's all about Federation's version]

Natalie Storm Mixtape!!

December 6th, 2010

We’ve been waiting for this mixtape from TNT badgyal Natalie Storm for weeks now. It’s finally dropped and boy are them some surprises! It’s downright filthy: both its beats and its lyrics deliver some big dirt. There’s some recognizable tunes on there, flipped Natalie style (with help from Federation’s Max Glazer), like an amazing relick of ‘Bam Bam’ and ‘Too Girly Girly’, not to mention big tunes from the last few years, like ‘God Bless Me’. There may also be a little Mixpak release hidden in there too somewhere, alongside some new and exclusive tracks.

Be warned, if you thought this was a bashment mixtape, think again. This is everything Natalie Storm represents: some serious cross-pollinating across bashment, funky, reggae and straight-up dance bangers. ‘They call me perfect Storm for a reason’. Too right.

DOWNLOAD via Federation Sound.

Catch Natalie on East Village Radio tonight at 6pm ET.

TNT – Hot Gyal

November 23rd, 2010

Can’t wait for the Natalie Storm/Federation Sound mixtape? Then check this latest madness from TNT (Jamaican all-girl supergroup made up of Tifa, Natalie Storm & Timberlee), with Max Glazer & Fancy on production and some big remixes from our own Dre Skull, Dutch mash-up producer Carl Arm! and a seriously heavy bassline from Bassanovva. This one out to all the rumours that TNT had split.

Out on the 30th.
