Exclusive! Sticky & Maxwell D – ‘Bandolero’

November 15th, 2010

Us Brits don’t celebrate Thanksgiving but  The Heatwave will be bringing their Hot Wuk party to London’s East Village on the 25th of November, giving their own thanks for legendary producer Sticky. Yes it’s his birthday bashment and he’ll be joined by Maxwell D as well as Sticky’s nearest and dearest MCs, who will be celebrating the day by chatting on classic dancehall rhythms.

Sticky, whose immense Jumeirah Riddim was released on Mixpak, has given us an exclusive download of ‘Bandolero’, on the follow up to the riddim: the Jumeirah Riddim Sequel. Maxwell D borrows a flow from Junior Demus, using the old deejay style to murder the tune. Make sure you download Mad Max Vol 1 on the 19th of December.

If you’ve ever raved to a Sticky tune or gone mad to one of his remixes, it’s time to come and buy the big man a drink!

Kode9 Compilation For DJ-Kicks

April 22nd, 2010

Hyberdub boss Kode9 has a new compilation for the DJ-Kicks series which he describes as “just a snapshot of my DJ sets from the first half of 2010.” He’s included two tracks from Mixpak, Sticky’s “Jumeirah Riddim Sequel” and Sticky and Natalie Storm’s “Look Pon Me.” Kode9 elaborates,

[The mix is] definitely not an exploration of my musical heritage, but it’s not all new stuff. It probably signifies something about my relationship to dubstep that the mix only has a few dubstep tunes in it… Unfortunately, I fear some listeners, because of my background, will think that all the tracks are just mutations of dubstep.

!K7 will release Kode9′s DJ-Kicks on June 22nd, 2010.
