New Dam Funk EP

September 23rd, 2011

L.A. based, elctro-groove DJ and producer Dam-Funk has just put out a fresh new EP called InnaFocusedDaze in anticipation of his upcoming North American Tour. For more check out Funk’s Soundcloud or if you’re looking for a throwback to fill out that funk collection, Aurra’s “You and Me Tonight” is a good place to start. And, if you missed it, Dam-Funk did a super-smooth mix of Mixpak’s own Lil Scrappy’s “Look At Me” that’s very worth the listen (or re-listen).

Lil Scrappy – Tuffer

August 15th, 2011

Lil Scrappy – “Tuffer” from HOPESxDREAMS on Vimeo.

Scrappy has just released a video for the second track off his impressively deep Tha Merlo Jonez EP. The beat on “Tuffer” is a heavy, synthed out menace that pivots on a Weezy sample hook and Scrappy’s flow is sounding tight as ever. Mixtape gold for sure. His single “Look At Me” is available on Mixpak; jump on it if you haven’t already!

Mixpak FM: Kaptain Cadillac

June 1st, 2011

Mixpak FM 012 is brought to you by one of Paris’ infamous Booty Call Crew, Kaptain Cadillac (who you might also know as Leatherface). Aside from making a crazy remix of our Lil Scrappy release, KC also runs some of Paris’ most jukin’ parties, and has some ghetto-house bangers out on the Booty Call record label: ‘Show Me Luv’, ‘Big Butt’, and a ton of poppin’ remixes. His mix is some high energy business, bumping through ghetto tech, juke, miami bass and hard house, not to mention a whole load of unreleased material.

You can subscribe to Mixpak FM via iTunes, subscribe with an RSS reader from the Mixpak FM site or download this mix directly.

Lil Scrappy “Look At Me” Remixes EP Out Now!

April 5th, 2011

Atlanta-based rapper Lil Scrappy was an integral part of the crunk movement from the very beginning, appearing on seminal hits such as No Problem, Knuck If You Buck, Neva Eva, Gangsta Gangsta and Money In The Bank. On his recent Dre Skull-produced single, Look At Me, Scrappy came back with a hard, existential club banger and now Mixpak’s brought in Justin Martin and Dam-Funk for some remix fun. Justin Martin came through with a minimal, low end heavy remix that is a surefire club, equal parts underground club vibes and radio rap. Dam-Funk, on the other hand, delivers a slice of ethereal funk that’s perfect for zoning out to on your couch or accompanying you as you cruise in your ride on a summer afternoon.

Available now from iTunes, TTL Digital and Juno.

Jubilee’s New Show on Brooklyn Radio

March 30th, 2011

Jubilee has started a fresh new show on Brooklyn Radio, Fireworks:

Brooklyn’s bass sweetheart curates a fun mix that connects the dots between house, electro, UK funky, grime, Baltimore club, dubstep,hip-hop, kuduro, cumbia, and more, drawing a thread between NYC, Miami, London, Paris, Brazil, and points beyond. Jubilee’s close connection to DJ/producers worldwide means plenty of exclusive tracks and world premieres, as well as interviews and guest sets from the hottest up-and-coming DJs on the planet.

Sensing a void of intelligent dance music programming on American radio, and inspired by stations in other parts of the world including BBC Radio One, FBI Radio, Triple J and Rinse FM, Jubilee sees Fireworks as an outlet to showcase the wealth and depth of exciting music being created in NYC and beyond.

Her first ever show featured an exclusive from Mixpak, the Justin Martin remix of Lil Scrappy’s ‘Look At Me’ (the second track in). Listen here.
