Remember back when Nadastrom dropped us their Mixpak FM podcast with that smashing version of Bubba Sparxxx’s ‘Ugly’? Well DJ Dice has done just the same, creating a blazing moombah version of the hip hop classic. Unfortunately the DLs have run out now, but maybe if you ask him kindly, he’ll re-up it.
DJ and refixer extraordinaire, Smutlee, has given us this exclusive and, needless to say, badass moombahton mix. It’s all his latest edits, which include some unbelievably well-matched tracks: Shermanology & Buju, Ian Carey & Mr Vegas, Bassjackers & Rubi Dan to name but a few. They sit nicely inbetween some hip hop, some Vybz Kartel, a load of moombahton bangers and even some Earth, Wind & Fire. Smutlee’s EP is hitting the streets soon, and if you’re yet to witness him smashing a dancefloor to bits in London, reach!
Thanks to Mr Smutlee for making 112 everyone’s new majic number.
LDN refix badman Smutlee has tried his hand at a Moombah edit (check his bangin’ funky bashment remixes and mixtapes here), and turns out it knocks! The brand new track, ‘Majic’, also features Mixpak family member Ms. Thing on vocals….run the track!
It’s one of my favourite things when a new Moombahton release hits the internet. It’s even better when there’s something on there by The Father Of Moombahton himself, a man better known as Dave Nada. Tittsworth and Ayres‘ label, T&A Records, has been inundating us with dope releases lately, including an EP by Nada called Kick Out The Jams, the already legendary Moombahton EP which includes the screwed-down I-shake-my-ass edit of ‘Riverside’ and his Punk Rock Latino EP. The time for more tropical substance by the hand of Nada has arrived and T&A have now put out a free EP with a selection of edits, remixes and reworks by Nada and comrade Nordstrom called the Rum & Coke EP. There’s even a Moombahton edit on there of Sticky & Natalie Storm’s ‘Look Pon Me’, released on Mixpak! Dave Nada took the track, slowed it down, added some sweet percussion, chopped up the vocals, added his magical recipe to the entity and the result is madly different from the original. I love it. Decide for yourself and stream the track & download the rest of the EP here.
Nadastrom turned in a huge remix for Melé’s Bombay EP, so we thought we’d tap ‘em for our second Mixpak FM podcast. Needless to say, they went deep and delivered an hour of the freshest Moombahton and dancehall, giving us a big mix for the summer. Catch the vibe.
You can go subscribe to Mixpak FM via iTunes, subscribe with an RSS reader from the Mixpak FM site or download this mix directly.

Going against the grain of speeding up old songs into overhyped club-tracks on steroids, Dave Nada’s new project MOOMBAHTON transforms tropical and dutch house tracks to intoxicating slow burners by slowing down the BPM and stretching out the sound. The result sounds effortless and thoroughly enjoyable.
