Nigerian Goodies #1

So i just got back from a nice little Christmas break in Nigeria. What did i bring back? Why music of course! Nigerian pop music tends to follow the US R&B pop model, which leads to quite insipid music most of the time. I don’t know what happened this year but someone decided to tap up African resources and add coupe decale drums.

The biggest song right now is D’Banj aka the Kokomaster’s ‘Mr Endowed’, which is a song as corny as you could imagine. My personal favourite and the one that really gets people skanking out is Kas’ ‘Wind for Me’. Whether it was at Calabar Carnival, a beach party in my dad’s tiny village or our next door neighbour’s, everyone was dutty whining to this song.
