Sinden – High Demand feat. Jesse Boykins III (Brenmar Remix)

December 29th, 2011

The emotional weight of this new R&B release by Grizzly is powerful but nuanced, both through Boykin’s lyrics and the producers’ work. The original version by label boss Sinden gives Boykin‘s vocals full stage. They unveil a portrait of feelings left unguarded to burgeon with the force of storm clouds colliding. Sinden adds to it only with heavy heart drums and distant minded clacks moved along by subtle swing and syncopation alongside expectant synths. The Brenmar remix manages to be the largest and most forceful while retaining the same basic mood. The lyrics are not as understandable, yet his intention is still clear. The beat is languid but alive with dynamic fills. Brenmar’s hand is clearest where the percussion tumbles like reservations scattered across wooden floors to disappear down tiled stairwells. Lucky Beard takes it into more confused, excited territory. This free release is the first of a planned monthly series of tunes. (Photo of Boykins by Cleon Grey.)

Stream The Count & Sinden: Mega Mega Mega

August 19th, 2010

London dance heroes The Count & Sinden are releasing their debut record, Mega Mega Mega, next week and letting you stream it ALL now! As expected, there’s some big bangers in there, and some nice collabs with 77Klash, Rye Rye, The Mystery Jets and funky voice-of-the-moment Katy B. The cliche ‘there’s something for everyone’ really rolls here, it’s a lively genre-buster of a record: house, pop, Uk funky, miami bass, garage….Mega.

Sinden Launches Grizzly

March 9th, 2010

The details are out on Sinden’s new label Grizzly which drops it’s first release on April 19th. As he describes, “Grizzly will bring this sense of unexpectedness, flitting between styles – it’s serious music without taking itself too seriously.” He wants the new label to reflect his interest in club music which is “all-embracing, fun, disparate and twisted up”.

The label’s first release will be a collaboration between Sinden and SBTRKT, who’s recently remixed Modeselektor and Tinie Tempah among others. The A-side is titled “Midnight Marauder,” while the flip is “Kind of Familiar.”

The first to releases are:

19 April – Sinden & SBTRKT – ‘Midnight Marauder’

17 May – Brodinski – ‘Arnold Classics’
